Groundwater plan work to begin soon

As part of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, public agencies are required to develop and implement a Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) – a guiding document that will help agencies with maintaining healthy groundwater basins and meeting new groundwater laws.

This September, the Sacramento Groundwater Authority (one of our North American Subbasin partners) filed the required notification to the state to begin work on the plan for the entire subbasin, which comprises five Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSA), including West Placer defined GSA.

As a result, the five GSAs are closely coordinating the preparation of a single GSP.  Between now and the public release of the draft plan in early 2021, partnering agencies will work with stakeholders through a formalized public participation effort as well as conduct various technical studies to understand the condition of the groundwater basin and identify strategies to maintain a sustainable basin.  The final GSP is slated for completion mid-2021.
